I’ve been a fan of Picture This since their first single ‘Take My Hand’ was released, and after seeing them live at an intimate gig last year in The Academy in Dublin, I became totally obsessed! So naturally when I heard they were releasing a new album in 2019, I was super excited; every song they release they seem to outdo themselves, so I was keen to hear some new material.
The singles that were released from the new album early on were quite different to their debut, self-titled album ‘Picture This’. ‘One Drink’ was the first single to be released and it teased for what was to come - it’s such a groovy, pop song without the element of ‘cheese’ but totally different to their earlier stuff. ‘Everything or Nothing’ and ‘If You Wanna Be Loved’ soon followed and I had no doubt that this album was going to be more than I hoped for and I was definitely not disappointed.
This is a sensational album from the lads filled with incredible emotion about modern day relationships, which I think is super relatable, making the album even more appealing. The album is like a compilation of stories - each song is a different story of love or resentment; it’s almost like a hopeless diary entry of what it’s like to fall in and out of love, and everything else that comes with it.
With Ryan’s vocals, Jimmy’s music production, accompanied with Owen and Cliff, this album slots right into this eras sound of music, but yet is so original! I would recommend this album, not only for fans of Picture This, but for anyone looking to hear some new groovy, pop music from an Irish band - got to support our own!! ;)
10/10 for me, sounds great on vinyl too!
