DESCRIPTION
Filmed over two years, the series features extraordinary animal behaviour captured with the very latest camera technologies and brings a number of firsts to Irish natural history filmmaking – Daubenton Bats filmed hunting at night in super slow motion; remarkable underwater footage of the mating dance of the Shannon’s great predator – the Pike; Whooper Swans filmed in extreme close-up and intimate detail as they fly over the river’s great lakes; a Kingfisher diving underwater revealing their amazing hunting skills. Two hours of breathtaking footage will reveal the natural world of Ireland as never seen before. Camping on its banks, wandering its islands and paddling its many tributaries in his canoe, the series is hosted by internationally renowned wildlife presenter Colin Stafford-Johnson. Over the two years of production, Colin journeyed the length of the river dozens of times to bring to Irish viewers this remarkable portrait of Ireland’s greatest geographical feature.
