New Airs is the self-titled debut album from the Irish group.
The album features instrumental arrangements of classic Irish rock, pop and folk songs by artists such as U2, Kodaline, The Script, Snow Patrol, Enya, Thin Lizzy, and Glen Hansard and Marketa Irglova (Once). The album features new settings of older Irish airs inspired by modern artist's interpretations such as Sinead O’Connor and Luke Kelly.
The lead single and video from New Airs is an arrangement of U2's classic With or Without You which has received over 5 million views on YouTube since its release and it has also regularly featured on RTÉ Radio 1, RTÉ Lyric FM, BBC Radio Ulster.
The arrangement of Thin Lizzy’s The Boys Are Back in Town will feature on the first episode of the new series Irish Blood featuring Hollywood star Alicia Silverstone.
All of the arrangements from the album feature string quartet with some of the arrangements exploring more contemporary combinations with bodhrán and synthesised electronics. The album was an independent production by Glen Austin (arranger and producer) featuring RTÉ Contempo Quartet with bodhrán player Aimee Farrell Courtney, and Glen Austin on synthesised electronics.
