The theme is known for its suspense-filled rhythm with an unusual 5/4 time signature, and the famous four-note motif that opens the piece: a musical nod to the Morse Code pattern for the letters M.I. (--··). This clever encoding not only ties the theme directly to the title but also reinforces the atmosphere of secret communications, covert operations, and puzzles that define the world of 'Mission: Impossible'.
