Description
Collection of ten family adventures. In 'Alvin and the Chipmunks Meet Frankenstein' (1999), Alvin and his brothers (voice of Ross Bagdasarian Jr.) get a fright and a half while working as movie studio tour performers. Upon deciding to visit the Frankenstein's Castle attraction, they end up encountering what seem to be the real Dr Frankenstein (Michael Bell) and his monstrous creation! In 'An American Tail' (1986), the Mousekewitz family of mice live happily beneath the home of a human family in Russia until the terrible day when soldiers burn both homes to the ground. With no home left for them, the Mousekewitzes begin an arduous journey across the world to reach the fabled haven of New York City. Fievel (voice of Phillip Glasser), the youngest member of the family, ends up being separated from the rest in the midst of a storm at sea. After washing up on the shores of America Fievel must explore the daunting city of New York and reunite with his family. 'Balto' (1995) follows a half husky, half wolf named Balto (voice of Kevin Bacon) who does not seem to fit into either family. He becomes a hero when a diphtheria epidemic and blizzard combine to threaten the lives of the children of Nome, as he has to lead a team of sled-dogs over 600 miles to obtain the life-saving medicine. In 'Curious George' (2006), accompanied by his human owner, The Man in the Yellow Hat (voice of Will Ferrell), Curious George (Frank Welker) sometimes lets his inquisitive nature get the better of him, leaving his friends with the job of keeping him out of trouble. In 'Beethoven' (1992), the Newton family feel somewhat incomplete until they add a St. Bernard puppy to their group. Loved by all the members of the family, except for uptight father George (Charles Grodin), Beethoven grows up to be an incredibly large dog. When a twisted veterinarian decides that he needs Beethoven for his vile experiments however, George becomes Beethoven's best hope for escape. In 'The Land Before Time' (1988), young dinosaur Littlefoot (voice of Gabriel Damon) is orphaned and so he sets off with a gang of fellow baby dinosaurs in search of a legendary green valley that offers safety from the plague that is sweeping the world. In 'Over the Hedge' (2006), the residents of the forest kingdom wake up to find their habitat changed and food in short supply. Their peaceable leader, Vern the turtle (voice of Garry Shandling), leans towards letting things be and adapting, when along comes RJ the raccoon (Bruce Willis). RJ will hear of no namby-pamby ideas and is insistent that there is food in the human kingdom for the taking if the animals will only join him in gathering it. Little do the animals know that RJ has ulterior motives for leading them all into temptation - he's in debt to a big fat bear called Vincent (Nick Nolte) who has given him a final date for repayment. 'The Tale of Despereaux' (2008) tells the tale of Despereaux Tilling (voice of Matthew Broderick), a misfit mouse in love with music, stories, and a princess named Pea (Emma Watson), a rat called Roscuro (Dustin Hoffman) who lives in the darkness but covets a world filled with light, and Miggery Sow (Tracey Ullman), a slow-witted serving girl with cauliflower ears who harbours one simple, but utterly impossible, wish. The unlikely trio embark on an adventure-filled journey that takes them down into a horrible dungeon, up into a glittering castle, and into a circle of friendship that will never be broken. In 'Turbo' (2013), a snail follows his dream of winning the Indianapolis 500. Eager to follow in the footsteps of his hero, Indy 500 champ Guy Gagné (voice of Bill Hader), and obsessed with all things to do with speed, Turbo the snail (Ryan Reynolds) has become a bit of an embarrassment to his friends. But when a freak accident sucks him into the supercharger of a drag racer, he wakes the next morning to discover he's acquired some of the characteristics of a car, such as headlight eyes, but more importantly, incredible acceleration and speed. Armed with his new abilities and aided by friends Tito (Michael Peña), Whiplash (Samuel L. Jackson), Smoove Move (Snoop Dogg), Burn (Maya Rudolph) and Skidmark (Ben Schwartz), Turbo soon sets out for the famous racetrack, determined to fulfil his destiny. Finally, in 'A Simple Wish' (1997), seven-year-old Anabel (Mara Wilson) wishes for a fairy godmother after the death of her mother, but doesn't expect anything like Murray (Martin Short), the world's first male angelic guardian. Instead of guaranteeing Anabel's dad a part in a new Broadway musical, Murray manages to turn him into a statue. The problems really begin with the arrival of Claudia (Kathleen Turner), a former fairy who has turned to the dark side and stolen all the other godmothers' wands. All she needs now to become all-powerful is Murray's wand.
