Our take on... Wonder Woman
DC’s box-office smashing superhero movie Wonder Woman is now available for you to own on October 6th.
Director Patty Jenkins has already done wonders for female characters in cinema. In 2003, she released the fantastic, yet deeply tragic, real-life crime drama, Monster. Charlize Theron gave a frightening portrayal as real-life killer Aileen Wuornos. She gained an insane amount of weight and gave the performance of her career, that imo still needs to be topped.
Wonder Woman has become the biggest stand-alone superhero movie of all time. Not only is this a huge achievement for female-lead films, but this is an almighty victory for the DC universe. Let’s face it, after the mixed results with Batman V Superman: Dawn Of Justice and David Ayer’s Suicide Squad, DC needed this win.
Israeli-born actress Gal Gadot stars as Diana Prince, AKA Wonder Woman, an Amazonian warrior uncertain of her full power and potential. When she leaves home to fight in the last days of the great war - her love for innocence and integrity puts her in the path to become the warrior she is destined to be.
Chris Pine (Star Trek, Star Trek: Into Darkness, Star Trek Beyond) co-stars as war pilot, Steve Trevor. Every superhero needs their trusty sidekick.
Inevitably, like most superhero movies, a sequel has already been announced...Wonder Woman 2 is already well into pre-production. That’s a bit of a no-brainer though, as the film was so financially successful at the box-office. Director, Patty Jenkins has been confirmed to return for the second instalment of the franchise.
There are no deleted scenes in Wonder Woman, so that means there will be no director’s cut, even on blu-ray. So what you’ve seen in the cinema, will be the cut you get on disc to view in the comfort of your own home.
Wonder Woman has also been confirmed as one of the main characters in the recently announced Flash movie (Flashpoint) starring the great, Ezra Miller (We Need To Talk About Kevin).
WONDER WOMAN IS AVAILABLE ON Blu-Ray and DVD from 6th October. Pick up at your copy online or @ any Golden Discs store or Tesco (Ireland) branches nationwide.
