Our Man Trevor's take on Cathy Davey's gig
Cathy Davey, Aoine 23 Márta, Eaglais Úinitéireach, Faiche Stiabhna.
Tá guth ar leith ag Cathy Davey agus bhí sé faoi lán nirt aici an Aoine seo chaite. Tá a fhios ag einne a bhí taobh istigh den Eaglais ar Faiche Stiabhna, gur ionad íontach é. Is ionad foirfe é do Cathy agus chun seisiún taifead beo leithleach le rannpháirtíocht ón lucht éisteachta, a chur ar siúl. Ba é aidhm na hoíche ná albaim ar vinil a taifead le chur ar díol le linn Record Store Day 2018. Ba taithí íontach é dom agus ceann de na gigeanna is fearr a bhí mé aige le tamaill anuas. Ní minic go mbíonn seans ag duine pháirt a ghlacadh ag taifead albaim.
Is é "Bare Bones" ainm an albaim agus tugaim ard-mholadh daoibh é a cheannach ar Record Store Day.
Cathy Davey, Friday 23rd March - Unitarian Church, Stephens Green
Cathy Davey has a very distinctive voice and it was in full force on Friday night. Any one who has ever been inside the Church on Stephens Green knows how intimate a space it is. It was a perfect venue for Cathy to put on a very unique event, a recording session which included live audience participation. The purpose of the night was to produce an album on vinyl which will be released for Record Store Day 2018. It was an amazing experience and one of the best gigs I've been to in a long time. How often do you get to be part of an album recording?!
The album is titled "Bare Bones" and I highly recommend you add it to your Record Store Day list of buys.
