In 'Top Gun' (1986), Maverick is a young fighter pilot enrolled at Naval college, training with the most gifted flyers of his generation and competing for the prestigious Top Gun award. One of these pilots is Bradley 'Rooster' Bradshaw (Miles Teller), the son of Maverick's late best friend Nick 'Goose' Bradshaw (Anthony Edwards). Maverick must confront his past and his fears as a mission that may demand the ultimate sacrifice from those involved draws near.
