Clint Eastwood directs and stars in this US drama based on the novel by N. Richard Nash. Set in 1980, the film follows retired rodeo star Mike Milo (Eastwood) as he travels across the Texas border to Mexico City in search of his former boss Howard Polk (Dwight Yoakam)'s 13-year-old son, Rafo (Eduardo Minett). Mike discovers the teenager living a life of crime in Mexico, taking part in illegal cockfights with his rooster Macho. After convincing Rafo to return to Texas, the pair head for the border, debating the nature of masculinity, pursued by henchmen employed by Rafo's mother, Leta (Fernanda Urrejola)
