Description
According to jazz lore, on the morning of January 19, 1957, esteemed alto saxophonist Art Pepper woke up to learn that he was booked for a session, just hours later, with Miles Davis' highly respected rhythm section (pianist Red Garland, bassist Paul Chambers, and drummer Philly Joe Jones), the landmark title, 'Meets the Rhythm Section', was recorded. Housed in a tip-on jacket, this special mono edition features all-analog mastering from the original mono tapes by Bernie Grundman and is pressed on 180-gram vinyl at QRP. As part of the Contemporary Records Acoustic Sounds Series, this release celebrates 70 years of the venerable jazz record label.
