John Wick 4: The Relentless Return of the Legendary Assassin
They stole his car.
They killed his dog.
They called in a favour.
They excommunicated him.
They put out a contract on him.
Seriously, will these people never learn?!
John Wick - The Baba Yaga himself - returns for a fourth instalment of the now-iconic underworld assassin series. After his literal fall in the last outing, and his faked death, John Wick is out to get revenge on The High Table once and for all. By his side stand Winston; Manager of The New York Continental, Charon; Concierge of The New York Continental (R.I.P Lance Reddick) and The Bowery King; who runs the Homeless Network of spies across NYC.
The nemesis this time 'round? Marquis Vincent de Gramont, played marvelously by Bill Skarsgard, who is determined to take out John Wick and end this thorn in The High Table's side and the near-legendary status that name has come to bear. This latest globetrotting adventure takes John Wick to Osaka in search of allies; Berlin in search of family, and then Paris to take on the Marquis himself. But of course nothing goes quite to plan. The bullets, blades, fists and various improvised weaponry come hard and fast, both at John Wick and those who stand in his way. There is a particularly fun scene involving incendiary shotgun rounds that will delight anyone yet to watch the movie.
The stars are out in Chapter 4 as Keanu Reeves is joined by series favourites Ian McShane, Lance Reddick & Laurence Fishburne, as well as newcomers Donnie Yen, Bill Skarsgard, Hiroyuki Sanada and Clancy Brown, to name but a few.
The stakes are higher, the set pieces are bigger and the action is even better. This is the most John Wick movie ever, and that is an absolute compliment! Fans of the series will definitely not be disappointed, as this is easily one of the best movies in the series, and one of the best action movies of the last few years.
The Keanussaince is well and truly upon us, and I am absolutely here for it.
FUN FACT:
The original John Wick was actually titled Scorn, but Keanu Reeves kept referring to it as John Wick in interviews, so they changed it.
The trusted words of our very own, Kevin Morrin in Waterford.
