Their musical influences range from the Midwestern malaise of Big Black and Pere Ubu, to pioneers Kraut Can and Kraftwerk, while bowing to the British belligerence of The Fall and This Heat. Their first collection of songs slyly loosens genres and conventions, mischievously metamorphoses, and tramples on the promises delivered by the name itself. Intense bursts of catchy noise rock, rocksteady, hypnotic bouts of mournful poetics, sexy groove rock, and a number of other forays into parts unknown are made apparent throughout 9 Songs.
