Description
Collection of ten action adventures. In 'American Made' (2017) Tom Cruise stars as Barry Seal, a pilot for Trans World Airlines who became a drug smuggler for the Colombian Medellin cartel in the 1980s. After being recruited by the notorious drug lords to move shipments of cocaine from Colombia to an airbase in Mena, Arkansas, Seal also becomes involved with the CIA and DEA who are looking for him to provide information on the Colombians' activities while also secretly transporting weapons into South America for them. However, with the cartel continuing to increase their shipments to the US, it's not long before events begin to spiral out of control. Based on Antony Johnston's graphic novel of the same name, 'Atomic Blonde' (2017) follows Lorraine Broughton (Charlize Theron), an elite MI6 spy tasked with taking down a secretive organisation responsible for the murder of an undercover agent in Berlin. With the Cold War coming to an end and allegiances shifting in the city, Broughton reluctantly joins up with local station chief David Percival (James McAvoy) to conduct the investigation. However, with a missing list of double agents putting the West's entire intelligence network in serious danger, the pair must put their differences aside and work together in order to achieve their objectives. In 'Battleship' (2012) US Navy personnel are confronted by an unknown alien structure during war-game trials, they quickly realise the enormity of the threat facing them. As the aliens unleash a terrifying barrage of destructive force on the Earth's population, Admiral Shane (Liam Neeson), captain of the USS John Paul Jones, finds himself caught up in the fight of his life as he leads a fleet of ships into battle against the seemingly invincible extraterrestrial armada. In 'The Bourne Identity' (2002), badly wounded and suffering from amnesia, Jason Bourne (Matt Damon) is pulled out of the Mediterranean by fishermen, unable to recall neither who he is nor what happened to him. His only clue to his identity is the number of a Swiss bank account which has been etched into a device implanted in his body. Following the lead to Zurich, he discovers money, passports and a gun waiting for him, but also earns the attention of the security services and has to leave in a hurry. He then persuades a young woman (Franka Potente) to drive him to Paris, where he hopes to find out his true identity and discover the reason why the CIA are taking such an interest in him. In 'Doom' (2005) a team of scientists have set up an experimental research facility on the planet Mars that suddenly ceases communication with no warning. A Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge (The Rock) and Grimm (Karl Urban), are dispatched to investigate, and make the shocking discovery that the scientists have opened a dimensional gateway to Hell itself. Against all the odds, the squad have to fight their way through the base to shut off the portal, and then kill every horrific escaped demon creature before the hordes of Hell can reach Earth. In 'Green Zone' (2010) Damon stars as Chief Army Warrant Officer Roy Miller, a specialist soldier who joins forces with Wall Street reporter Lawrie Dayne (Amy Ryan) to expose the hotbed of covert and faulty intelligence surrounding the search for Iraq's cache of weapons of mass destruction. In 'Kick-Ass 2' (2013), with the end of college in sight and unclear about his future, Dave aka Kick-Ass (Aaron Johnson) decides to create a superhero team with the help of Mindy aka Hit Girl (Chloë Grace Moretz). When Mindy is subsequently forced to hang up her costume, however, Dave sees no other option than to team up with the vigilante members of 'Justice Forever', led by the take-no-prisoners Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey). But as this latest wave of costume-toting crime-fighters begin to take back the streets, they soon find themselves under attack from a reincarnated 'Red Mist', now known as 'The Mother F**ker' (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), out to exact revenge on Kick-Ass for the death of his father. In 'The Man With the Iron Fists' (2012), set in 19th-century feudal China, a village blacksmith (RZA) forges an array of weapons for use by warriors and assassins. When the village comes under threat from a traitor, the blacksmith is forced to summon an ancient power to defend himself and his fellow villagers. In 'Smokin' Aces' (2007) Buddy 'Sarah Aces' Israel (Jeremy Piven) is a comedic Vegas magician who has informed on an important mobster. The call goes in from the mobster that a million dollars goes to anyone who cuts Buddy's heart out and the FBI intercept the call. Aces is put under the protection of agents Carruthers and Messner (Ray Liotta and Ryan Reynolds) who squirrel the magician away in his own Tahoe retreat. Soon after, a parade of hit men, bounty hunters and, generally, a rogues' gallery of miscreants descend on Tahoe, locked in the chase to be the one to off the corrupt conjurer. Finally, in 'Wanted' (2008), James McAvoy stars as Wesley Gibson, a man whose life is one of dull routine. Trapped in a dead-end office job, unappreciated by his boss, and cheated on by his girlfriend, Wes has accepted that he's never going to amount to much in life. But all that changes one day when he meets the enigmatic Fox (Angelina Jolie), a member of a secret society of assassins named The Fraternity who want to recruit Wes into their ranks. Dealing out death as ordained by fate itself, the society's leader, Sloan (Morgan Freeman), tells Wes that the father he always thought was dead was actually one of their top assassins, and that following his recent murder, he must now avenge his father's death by releasing the dormant powers he has inherited. Although reticent at first, Wes quickly adapts to his new life as he discovers his natural aptitude for the job at hand whilst despatching the bad guys with supremely energetic efficiency.
